Mr. Meyer has over 40 years of business experience, including self-employment and leadership positions in many diverse areas including education, franchising, real estate, and finance.
Mr. Meyer began as a franchisee for a family owned business; Leadership Management International, a company that markets management and leadership training programs and teaches companies how to set strategic goals and develop long range strategic plans. They now operate in over 60 countries market their programs in over 20 languages. “Mr. Meyer was also the principal and responsible for expansion of the U.S. based retail franchise company, T-Shirt Plus, which operated primarily in regional mall locations. During his tenure the chain grew to over 500 US locations.
Founder/Principal of JLM Financial Investments – Private Investment Company founded in 1992 that buys companies and develops commercial and residential real estate during periods of economic expansion as well as buying distressed assets during downturns. JLM recently purchased over $500 million of assets over the last 4 years including commercial real estate, senior housing facilities, residential real estate, franchise businesses and corporate jet aircraft.
Founder/Principal of JLM Healthcare – Owns and operates 10 senior living facilities with approximately 1,500 beds in the greater Chicago area.
Mr. Meyer has served on numerous corporate boards and has a long history of philanthropic work. Mr. Meyer is currently the Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Austin, Texas
Trey is an entrepreneur with 15 years of experience building and monetizing businesses that maintain the pursuit of operations excellence. Trey is the founder of PF-TO Management which operates 12 Planet Fitness locations currently open in Texas. Additionally, 6 or more locations are scheduled to open by the end of 2015 with 40+ more in the development pipeline throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.
PF-TO Management’s established Planet Fitness locations (open 12+ months) outperform the average Planet Fitness location by 50% demonstrating the impact of a “top down” culture of high standards and expectations at the management and operational level.
Prior to becoming a Planet Fitness franchisee, Mr. Owen founded, developed and eventually sold Texas Computer Training Institute, a business comprised of computer training centers focused on certification training throughout secondary markets across Texas. Mr. Owen holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from The United States Military Academy at West Point. Additional professional training includes previous licensing in real estate, insurance and finance.
Trey serves as President for the Planet Fitness Independent Franchisee Association.
Mr. Laffey, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), has over 30 years of direct taxation and accounting experience in the real estate industry. He holds a degree from Duke University and a Master’s of Science degree in taxation from the University of Baltimore.
As Chief Financial Officer for JLM Financial Investments, Mr. Laffey directs the firm’s financial goals, objectives, and budgets. Mr. Laffey’s responsibilities also extend to Managing JLM Healthcare as well as managing JLM’s financial risks, supervising cash management activities, participating in capital raising activities, and providing support on potential acquisitions.
Mr. Ezell has over 15 years of experience working in various facets of business. Prior to joining JLM Financial Investments, Mr. Ezell obtained an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin with a concentration in finance and specialization in real estate. Mr. Ezell also has a Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University.
As Managing Director for JLM Financial Investments, Mr. Ezell is responsible for sourcing new investment opportunities, participating in capital raising activities, development of financial models and business development.
Mr. Ezell played the lead role in the merger and recapitalization of United PF Partners.
Mr. Votaw has 10 years of business experience in commercial real estate, research, due diligence and analysis. In his role at JLM he is responsible for financial analysis, market research, interfacing with the company’s lenders and financial partners and coordinating the due diligence process. Mr. Votaw graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration.
Mr. Meyer has experience in commercial real estate, development, and multi-unit franchise acquisitions. In his role at JLM he is responsible for financial analysis, data analysis, market research, due diligence, and coordinating with lenders, financial partners, and legal. Meyer graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts and also holds his Texas Real Estate License.
